These coolant-through, solid carbide jobber-length drill bits for steel and cast iron have an EgiAS coating that resists oxidation at high temperatures and provides excellent hardness and heat resistance. The coating protects the bits from wear in high-speed drilling applications with steel, cast iron, and hardened steel with a Rockwell hardness of 35 to 50 HRC. Coolant-through drill bits have holes through the drill bit shaft to direct coolant from the drilling machine down to the bits' tip. The coolant lubricates and cools down the drill bit to improve drilling precision and prevent wear to the bits' cutting edges.
